Experience
Amanda has spent more than twenty years working professionally with stories — as a writer, independent publisher, audiobook producer and script adapter. She has independently published original fiction, co-written works and anthologies featuring stories from multiple authors. Her publishing work has encompassed the entire production process, from development and structural editing through to commissioning artwork, editing, formatting, distribution, marketing and audience development.Alongside her own writing, Amanda has worked collaboratively with other authors as a co-writer, alpha and beta reader, structural editor and anthology contributor.Amanda is also a producer and script adapter with Kokoro Audio, adapting novels into full-cast audio productions. She has worked on The Price of Power, the first book in Michael Michel’s Dreams of Dust and Steel series, and is currently adapting the second book, A Graveyard of Heroes. That breadth of experience has given Amanda an understanding of story from both sides of the page — as a writer creating the work and as a creative professional helping shape the work of others.
The Writer
Amanda is drawn to stories with room to grow. She has always been fascinated by fantasy and the seemingly limitless possibilities of speculative storytelling — worlds that can be entirely new, characters who can exist beyond familiar boundaries, and stories that can explore ideas that ordinary reality cannot. Her creative range is deliberately broad. She moves comfortably between genres, develops distinctly different characters and builds worlds with their own identities, rules and emotional landscapes.Screenwriting has opened another challenge: telling stories through what can be seen, heard and experienced rather than relying on the freedom of the page. The restrictions of the screenplay are demanding, but they have become part of what Amanda loves about the form. After twenty years of writing, she has learned that almost anything can become the beginning of a story. A conversation. A glance. A contradiction. Something someone refuses to say.She is now looking for the right creative relationships to help take those stories further — from the page and into production.
The Screaming Pen
The name began with a simple truth:Amanda writes until her pen screams. What began as the business behind her independent publishing has become the foundation for the next stage of her career.Today, The Screaming Pen brings together Amanda's writing across publishing and screen, with the long-term ambition of developing original stories for television, film and animation.
